Well, I received a link from an unexpected source that I thought you might enjoy:

Spectacles – How Pop Culture Views Librarians!: http://www.librarian-image.net/img07/ : an interesting overview from 2007 of librarians in media.

If you’re interested in stereotypes check these resources as well:

The “Hipster Librarians” .  The link goes to a list of resources around a New York Times article , and the ensuring uproar afterward.

And let’s not forget about the sexy librarian stereotype?  We’re all foxes, right?

These were great reads! I’m sure everyone who’s taken Guy Robertson’s class remembers his US border incident because of his so-called non-librarian look. It is interesting to see the excitement caused over the NY Times article, fluff or not. The old image is changing slowly, I’m sure, though I doubt one stereotype will abound over another as there’s just too much diversity in people in general. We’re not clones of a single mold.
