Check out this event announcement from SLA Western Canada Chapter’s email list & blog… nice of them to reach out to members of other associations like BCLA. In my experience SLA WCC events are an opportunity to network with people from all sectors, not just special libraries (a broad area itself).
Besides, it’s about the only way I’m likely to see the inside of a fancy private club like Terminal City. 😉
SLA Western Canada Chapter presents eBooks: Building a Digital Alexandria
An exchange of ideas and good cheer.
Join SLA WCC on Wednesday, November 23rd from 5pm-8pm at the Terminal City Club (837 West Hastings Street, Vancouver) for a reception and panel discussion. This annual event brings together information professionals for a chance to share experience and camaraderie with both an informal reception and a panel discussion.
As part of SLA’s theme of FUTURE READY 365, our hot topic panel discussion this year will centre on eBooks: who has them, how are we managing them, and what’s next on the horizon? Our panellists – representing all walks of library life – will discuss their interactions with the digital publishing world and share insights on payment options, platforms and access, rights management and preservation.
In the spirit of collegiality, we’re inviting any and all information professionals to join us our party. It doesn’t matter if you’re a part of BCLA, CLA, ALA or any other part of the information industry’s alphabet soup, SLA pricing is available to all professional association members.
As always, a SLA Western Canada Chapter event is a fantastic place to meet up with your peers in the world of information. The delicious appetizers from the Terminal City Club’s kitchen are just one more reason to mark this event on your calendar! No-host bar service will be available to compliment the tasty bites with a glass of wine or cocktail. Ample time for conviviality and chat is scheduled before and after the panel to give everyone a chance to catch up and meet new colleagues. We’d love to exchange ideas and good cheer with you!
