Children’s Literature One Day Conference at UBC

Many Worlds to Walk In: A One Day Conference Exploring Diversity in Children’s Literature, Librarianship, and Education


UBC’s Biennial Children’s Literature Graduate Research conference will be held on 30th April, 2016 at UBC’s Irving K. Barber Learning Centre! The conference will showcase graduate student research and creative writing that explores, questions and analyses issues surrounding the topic of diversity in children’s literature. This may include research on narratives that depict diversity as well as the diverse formats we use to create and share narratives. We’re excited to be welcoming Dr Naomi Hamer (University of Winnipeg) and Dr Renee Hill (Syracuse University) to UBC as keynote speakers!

Annual UFV Speed Mentoring Event

On March 5th, during one of the first sunny weekends, I was fortunate to be facilitating the annual Speed Mentoring event at the University of the Fraser Valley. Alumni from the Library and Information Technology program gathered to spend their Saturday afternoon back at the school as mentors for soon to be graduates. This was the sixth time the event was co-hosted by the student association (LITSA) and LTAS, with sponsorship generously provided by the UFV Alumni Association.
